The project comprises the doubling of the 5.5 km railway section between Decimomannu and Villamassargia in Sardinia.

This infrastructure upgrading forms part of a wider programme aimed at improving the capacity, safety and sustainability of rail transport in southern Sardinia.

Salcef is responsible for the delivery of all civil, railway and hydraulic works, including demolition of the existing track, construction of the new double-track railway formation and provision for future electrification.

The works also include upgrading of the local road network, replacement of level crossings with new road connections, and construction of ancillary structures such as retaining walls, culverts, railway equipment buildings and a road overpass.
