Project Description
The Alexandria-Marsa Matrouh section forms part of the Green Line, the first line of Egypt’s new high-speed rail network developed within the Electric Express Train Project.
The Green Line connects El Ain El Sukhna on the Red Sea to Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean coast, passing through the Greater Cairo area and northern Egypt.
Within the Alexandria-Marsa Matrouh section, Salcef is responsible for the construction of the track superstructure over approximately 604 km of total track length, including main line and siding tracks.
The project contributes to the development of a high-capacity electrified railway system, enhancing passenger mobility and freight transport along the northern Mediterranean corridor.
The project is overseen by the National Authority for Tunnels under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport.
Scope of Work
Salcef is responsible for the construction of the track infrastructure along the Alexandria-Marsa Matrouh section.
The works include:
- Installation of 603,870 metres of track along the main line and sidings
- Construction of 64 turnouts
- Installation of 22 crossovers
- Complete track construction along the entire section, including the Borg El Arab junction
