The project concerns the first phase of the relocation of the Olbia railway station, part of a broader programme aimed at upgrading the rail infrastructure in the Olbia area and regenerating the surrounding urban environment.

The new Olbia Terranova station is built on the site of the former freight yard and allows the reconfiguration of the track layout, improving accessibility, operational efficiency and safety of railway services while strengthening the integration between the railway infrastructure and the urban fabric.

The works include the construction of the passenger building and the railway technical building, the construction of new station platforms with canopy structures, and the installation of safety and security systems as well as electrical power systems.

Railway track works are also included, involving the removal of the existing track layout and the construction of new terminal tracks for Olbia (Tracks 1 and 2), the main line track towards Golfo Aranci (Track 3) and a connecting track for services to and from Golfo Aranci (Track 4).

The project also includes the redevelopment of the station forecourt and surrounding areas, with landscaped green spaces, parking facilities and a “kiss & ride” access road.
