Salcef: bringing Milan and Venice closer

The Salcef Group has built the Treviglio-Brescia high-speed line, opened on December 11th in the presence of the Italian Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.
The work completes the high-speed connection between Brescia and Milan, and is a milestone stage in the creation of a fast line to bring Venice closer to the capital of Lombardy. The project is part of the Mediterranean TEN-T Corridor, the European infrastructure linking Spain to the Ukrainian border.
The Cepav Due – ENI Consortium for High Speed has entrusted the execution of the work to Salcef. The company’s task was to build 116 km of track, for which it used its patented MCB-01 track laying train, creating up to 2,000 m of track per day.
Salcef’s new work joins the previous construction of three of Italy’s main high-speed lines, with over 340 km of track laid, confirming the company’s role in building the Italian high-speed network.
The new Treviglio-Brescia line has a total of 58.2 km of double track: 39.6 km of high-speed line, 11.7 km of interconnections and 6.9 km of urban penetration.
This new infrastructure, with a maximum speed of 330 km/h, reduces travelling time by 30%.
