Salcef in Romania for the rehabilitation of the Frontiera-Curtici-Simeria line

Salcef will carry out track works as part of the contract for the rehabilitation of the Frontiera-Curtici-Simeria railway line, a stretch of the Pan-European Corridor IV that crosses Romania.
The contract was awarded to a joint venture led by Astaldi and that includes not only Salcef, but also FCC Costruccion SA and SC Thales Systems Romania S.r.l..
The project, commissioned by the National Company of Romanian Railways, includes two lots (2A+2B) of a new rail corridor that will improve one of the main routes of communication in Central and Eastern Europe.
Work is expected to start in the first half of this year and Salcef will focus on the rehabilitation and consolidation of 198.85 km of track works, split into two sections of 105.45 km and 93.4 km.
Salcef has long been part of important international projects on three continents and has already worked in Romania. From 2007 to 2011, the company carried out the rehabilitation of the Bucharest-Constanta line, renewing and upgrading 264 km of track, and rebuilding points and level crossings.
Salcef is currently building the Bucharest Metro Line 5, which will bring considerable benefits to the area’s 350,000 inhabitants, ensuring easy access to the centre of the capital.
