New contracts for track renewal in Romania

Salcef S.p.A. has won the tender bid for two framework agreements with the Romanian National Railway Transport Company (CFR).
The new contracts include track renewal activities in the Timișoara (Lot 3) and Cluj (Lot 4) areas and are part of a maintenance plan involving 1,400 km of railways, split into 8 lots, funded by the Romanian Recovery and Resilience Plan. This includes investments of a total of approximately 29 billion euros, of which around 4 billion are devoted to modernising railway infrastructure and rolling stock.
The two lots include track renewal of up to 170 km in Timișoara and up to 185 km in Cluj. The overall amount will vary, depending on the customer’s operating needs, from a minimum of around 70 million euros up to a maximum of about 235 million euros. Activity is expected to end in 2026.
Valeriano Salciccia, Salcef Group CEO, commented:
“In a year that featured excellent commercial results to reinforce the Group’s backlog and medium-long term outlook, we are pleased to contribute to the development of the railway system in Romania. These two framework agreements confirm our presence in the country, where we have operated since 2007 and where we completed sizeable railway transportation and urban mobility projects. The new contracts also demonstrate the Salcef Group’s active role in the transition towards sustainable mobility in the European Union”.
