The construction on the Alexandria-Marsa Matrouh high-speed railway, part of Egypt’s Electric Express Train Project (Green Line), is now underway.

Salcef Group has officially begun the construction of Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh high-speed railway line, an essential part of the Electric Express Train Project, Egypt’s new high-speed railway line that will run from Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea to Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean. This project, known as the Green Line, is part of Egypt’s broader effort to enhance its transportation infrastructure by developing an electric rail network designed to serve both passenger and cargo transport.

The Green Line Project: a new high-speed network in Egypt

The Electric Express Train Project, overseen by the National Authority of Tunnels under the supervision of the Ministry of transport of Egypt, is one of the largest transportation infrastructure projects in Egypt. It aims to connect the country’s key cities through a network of high-speed electric railways. Salcef Group’s involvement is a key component of the construction efforts for the section running from Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh, a strategic route that will improve travel times and facilitate the movement of goods across the Mediterranean coast.

Track Works by Salcef Group

Salcef Group is responsible for the track construction on the Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh section, and the work includes:

• Installation of 603,870 meters of track along the mainline and sidings
• Installation of 64 turnouts and 22 crossovers, ensuring smooth transitions between different track sections
• Comprehensive track construction for the entire section, including the junction between Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh
