Project Description
The project concerns the Verona–Bivio Vicenza first functional section of the new Verona–Padova high-speed/high-capacity railway line, a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening the Milan-Venice railway corridor and forming part of the TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor (core network).
The new section extends for 44 km between Verona and Bivio Vicenza, crossing the provinces of Verona and Vicenza and involving 13 municipalities. The project includes the construction of the new high-speed railway infrastructure partly alongside and partly in deviation from the existing railway line, with the objective of increasing capacity, service reliability and interoperability along one of the main national and European railway corridors.
The alignment originates in the Verona Porta Vescovo area (not included in the works) and continues eastwards to Bivio Vicenza, where it connects with the existing railway line.
Scope of Work
Salcef is responsible for the civil works and track works related to the relocation of sections of the existing railway line within the relevant lots, as well as for the railway track works of the new high-speed line along the entire section.
Lot 1 – Verona Est
- 2,000 m of relocated railway track and 6,000 m of railway embankments
- 3 railway underpasses, 1 railway bridge and 5 hydraulic culverts
- 2 traction power substations and 1 electrical equipment building
- 2,000 m of new access roads
- 2,000 m of noise barriers

High-speed railway track superstructure – First functional section
- construction of 88,000 m of railway track (total development of the first functional section), using 150,000 sleepers produced by Overail, a Salcef Group
- installation of 20 turnouts
